SHAH ALAM, Feb 7 — His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor is happy that the economic project operated by the Selangor Wakaf Corporation (Wakaf Selangor) has succeeded in expanding the value of wakaf (endowment) donations.

Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj was satisfied with and believed in the management of the agency since its establishment in January 2011.

“As chairman of Mais, I closely follow the development of Wakaf Selangor. His Royal Highness rarely asks (about waqf), which means His Royal Highness is satisfied with and trusts this agency,” said Abdul Aziz when met at the launch of the state level Wakaf Month at Dewan Orkid at Wisma PKPS here today.

Abdul Aziz said Wakaf Selangor is not only concerned with religious matters but can provide added value to contributors and the state’s economy.

“So, if we contribute RM100,000 to wakaf, maybe in the next five years it will double in value and the rewards received by the contributors will be greater.

“Therefore, I hope that Muslims in the state can follow the activities of Wakaf Selangor and spread the knowledge of wakaf and its great rewards to people,” he said.

Earlier, Wakaf Selangor launched the state level Wakaf Month which is set to run from February 11 (1 Syaaban) to April 9 (29 Ramadan).

Various programmes were organised throughout the campaign, including special Maghrib lectures, live podcast broadcasts and visits to construction project sites via a special wakaf fund.
