SHAH ALAM, March 4 — About 35,000 job opportunities were made available to the people of Selangor through the JobCare Tour over the past year, according to the State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication V Papparaidu.
V Papparaidu said the initiative helps the people get suitable jobs from various sectors offered by employers in the community area.
“The programme was implemented in each district with the help of Social Welfare Organisation (Socso) and the Selangor Employee Empowerment Unit.
“It targeted the local community as the primary group and job seekers have the opportunity to explore their potential by filling job vacancies offered by employers in the district,” he said during the closing session of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj’s speech at the State Legislative Assembly session today.
Papparaidu said the role of the Human Resources Standing Committee has been expanded for the new term to develop and produce competent, productive, responsive and resilient workers in the national labour market.
“This is to improve the quality and productivity of work in addition to solving the employment problems of the people of Selangor, especially individuals who are categorised as vulnerable such as the elderly, single mothers, the disabled and ex-convicts,” he said.
