Consensus building ensures Unity govt stands firm in Selangor — Amirudin

SHAH ALAM, March 21 — The consensus reached among the Unity Government parties’ leadership is vital in ensuring the coalition remains intact in Selangor, said state Pakatan Harapan chairman cum Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the strong spirit of consensus has put it on the right track to steer Selangor and Malaysia’s administration as a whole.

“Currently, we are facing a desperate Opposition. Despite their loud voices, it is evident they are becoming more desperate.

“That is why I believe we must be strong and united, gathering our strengths. We try our best and strive to be fair to everyone,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking at the Unity Government Leaders’ fast-breaking dinner at the Menteri Besar’s official residence yesterday evening.

Amirudin said he is confident that even when dealing with complex matters like (the division of) election seats (between Unity Government member parties), they are nonetheless capable of handling things well without conflict.

“I am optimistic that within the next three or four years, our unity will only grow stronger,” he said.

The event was also attended by Parti Amanah Negara Selangor chairman Izham Hashim, Umno Selangor deputy chairman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz, and 300 party leaders from various levels.

Earlier, Amirudin also presented RM60,000 in Ramadan contributions to the Selangor Unity Government’s coalition parties for mosque and surau activities throughout the fasting month.
