Crucial to enhance RMC to continue fostering future leaders — MB

By Danial Dzulkifly

KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 — The Royal Military College’s (RMC) role as an institution to cultivate future leaders must be defended and enhanced, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Expressing his pride as a parent whose eldest son, Amirul Haziq, recently graduated from the prestigious school, he said RMC remains an important institution in shaping future generations of leaders with good character.

“I attended as a parent (the graduation ceremony) since my eldest child has recently graduated from his SPM at RMC. It has provided not only him but also his friends with invaluable experiences

“I firmly believe this institution must be preserved and reinforced in its mission to train future leaders and nurture exemplary individuals for the betterment of Malaysia,” Amirudin said in a post on the social media site X (formerly Twitter) today.

On Sunday (March 10), he attended Amirul Haziq’s passing out parade, an official graduation ceremony after completing a military course.

In another post on Monday (March 11), the Menteri Besar also thanked RMC’s instructors and educators for playing a part in his son’s education.

“The presence of Haziq and his friends at RMC has undoubtedly been an immensely valuable experience. They have been instilled with discipline and given education,” Amirudin said.

Located in Sungai Besi, RMC was first established in 1952 as a premier institution to train young Malaysians to become officers in the Armed Forces, hold office in the higher divisions of the public service, and become leaders in the professional, commercial, and industrial fields.

The college has seen numerous notable alumni, including Raja Muda Kedah Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah, as well as past and present leaders of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

Scores of politicians and government servants are also RMC alumni, including Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, former Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof, and Putrajaya MP Mohd Radzi Md Jidin.

Other notable graduates include former Court of Appeal president Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinuddin, prominent corporate figures, sports personalities, celebrities, and industry leaders.
