Dewan Rakyat passes six bills this week

KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — Six bills were approved at the committee stage during the fourth week of the Dewan Rakyat sitting which ended yesterday.

The bills included the Supplementary Supply Bill (2023) 2024 involving the withdrawal of a sum of money not exceeding RM23,479,669,350 from the Consolidated Fund for additional expenses for services in 2023.

The Dewan Rakyat also approved the Universities and University Colleges (Amendment) Bill 2023, Jurisdictional Immunities of Foreign States Bill 2023, Police (Amendment) Bill 2024, Highway Authority Malaysia (Incorporation) (Amendment) Bill 2023 and Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (Amendment) Bill 2023.

Meanwhile, the Limited Liability Partnerships (Amendment) Bill 2024 was tabled for the first reading by Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Fuziah Salleh.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail also provided clarification regarding the Film Censorship Board (LPF).

Saifuddin said LPF will not approve the screening of any films that promote LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer), as well as films containing elements of communism, Islamophobia or that which contradict Islamic beliefs and teachings.

The Dewan Rakyat sitting continues on Monday.
