Impak Selangor seeks 1,000 home caregivers for early childhood education course

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, March 31 — The Selangor Early Childhood Care and Education Caretaker (Impak Selangor) aims to train 1,000 home caregivers under its early childhood education course, said Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) general manager Gan Pei Nei.

She said the courses focus on knowledge and skills related to safety, health, and hygiene.

“We aim to train 1,000 individuals, and of this number, 200 selected caregivers have the opportunity to receive a RM2,000 grant each.

“The winners will be selected based on their participation throughout the course, their cleanliness level, and their residence’s safety, among others,” Gan said.

She was speaking at the iftar event with 100 caregivers organised by the Impak secretariat, Yawas, and the Merdeka Centre at the Best Western Hotel in i-City yesterday.

Presently, 147 individuals have registered for the course, now into its third series, and which is expected to be implemented in May.

“Impak Selangor is a state government initiative to recognise caregivers who look after young children at home. We feel it is important to provide support and encouragement to these women to work,” Gan said.

Under Yawas’ aegis, Impak Selangor is a basic training programme offered free of charge to individuals caring for no more than three children at home.
