SHAH ALAM, March 13 — Approximately 37,550 Jom Shopping vouchers worth RM200 each will be distributed in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration next month.

State executive councillor for poverty eradication V. Papparaidu said the programme, aimed at the underprivileged and low-income groups across all 56 state constituencies, involves an allocation of RM7.51 million.

“The vouchers have been handed over to all the state constituencies. Representatives or area coordinators will handle the distribution process.

“The number of vouchers depends on the population. All recipients have been identified, and the distribution process will be carried out soon,” he said when contacted today.

Papparaidu added that this initiative aims to alleviate its recipients’ burden and assist them in preparing for the festive season.

This year, Selangor has allocated RM16.48 million for the Jom Shopping programme, benefiting 82,400 recipients from various ethnic groups.

During the Chinese New Year celebration in February, the state government provided 23,900 vouchers at RM4.78 million, distributed evenly to each state constituency.
