Selangor introduces CXO Club to empower entrepreneurs, tech leaders

By Yasmin Ramlan

KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 — Selangor is introducing the CXO Club to nurture business growth among entrepreneurs, serving as an ideal platform to exchange insights and disseminate best practices in technology adoption.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the development reinforces Selangor’s position as one of the top locations for entrepreneurs to establish and expand their businesses.

He said the higher achievement in domestic direct investment (DDI) compared to foreign direct investment (FDI) recorded last year indicates this.

“The CXO Club’s inception not only underscores our dedication to nurturing business growth but also reinforces our position as a hub for economic expansion and a premier destination for high-quality investments in Malaysia and the wider Asian region.

“In the realm of economy and investment, initiatives like the CXO Club hold profound significance.

“Selangor, endowed with strategic positioning, a dynamic ecosystem, and a rich talent pool, presents vast opportunities for local and international investors alike,” Ng said in his speech during the event launch at Menara Affin TRX today.

The state recorded RM55.3 billion in overall investment last year, significantly surpassing its RM45 billion initial target.

“This shows that Selangor has a better business environment for businessmen than other states.

“Selangor offers a better place to start a business and expand it to the next level,” he said.

CXO Club is a tailored network for forward-thinking C-level executives and entrepreneurs, united in driving industry transformation.

With visionary leaders and innovative minds, the CXO Club provides a platform for collaborative growth and impactful change.

Participants will broaden their business horizons in vibrant markets, including Taiwan, Japan, London, and Hong Kong, as part of the programme.

Elaborating further, the councillor said he is hopeful the participants will fully utilise the initiative initiated by the state government to guide startup companies in Selangor.

“Realising these opportunities entails more than just financial resources. It necessitates collaboration, mentorship, and strategic foresight.

“This is precisely where the CXO Club steps in, providing access to a distinguished network of seasoned professionals and industry experts,” Ng said.

The programme, organised by Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) and sponsored by Affin Bank, will run from March to October this year, featuring industry visits and international expansions.

CXO’s brief segmentation will shortlist 100 participants based on applicants, comprising five corporate and listed companies, 30 tech startups, 30 e-commerce businesses, and 35 small and medium enterprises, with a RM3,000 yearly membership fee.

The benefits offered include quality networking opportunities with industry leaders and professionals, collaboration opportunities, global expansion support with access to guidance and resources, market development grants, business self-assessment tools to enhance strategy, government connections, and fundraising guidance.

This includes expert insights on fundraising strategies, attracting investment for business growth, and maximising financial potential.
