UiTM to offer pre-diploma studies to Selangor B40 students

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, March 8 — Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) will offer pre-diploma studies to the children of Selangor’s low-income B40 families.

Its vice-chancellor Datuk Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin said the offer aims to provide a second chance to individuals who could not manage to secure a place at the highest level.

Further information about the programme can be obtained from UiTM’s website.

“On average, those who continue to the pre-diploma level achieve excellent results, and through this route, students can further their studies at higher levels.

“As everyone knows, UiTM is the largest entity in Selangor, and our charter is to produce Bumiputera professionals,” he said.

Shahrin was speaking to the press during the university’s top management’s courtesy visit to the Menteri Besar’s official residence today.

He thanked Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari for his willingness to meet with UiTM’s representatives to discuss several matters.

The discussion ranged from the empowerment of Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) to the development of knowledge in the state.

“We also discussed increasing the level of efficiency and skills of Selangor’s children.

“UiTM is also formulating several follow-up actions to continue to work more closely with the state government and its agencies,” Shahrin said.
