Exco: State govt meets each month to discuss investment projects

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, April 5 — The Selangor government is conducting monthly meetings that focus on efforts to stimulate investment in the manufacturing and service sectors.

State executive councillor for investment Ng Sze Han said the initiative, spearheaded by state subsidiary Invest Selangor Bhd, serves as a crucial platform to facilitate the approval of investment projects in Selangor.

This, he said, will subsequently help create thousands of job opportunities for the people.

“These investment, industrial, and trade-related meetings involve both the state and Federal governments,” he told Selangorkini

“In these meetings, we examine the development process of certain areas, including the aspect of approvals, proposals for new projects, land-related matters, and infrastructure facilities.

“The cooperation between the state and Federal governments have successfully addressed various issues that have been raised, thus ensuring smooth implementation and enhancing investment value.”

Ng said to ensure the meetings achieve their intended goals, his office would conduct site visits to project locations beforehand so that any issues identified can be discussed and resolved more thoroughly.

“In the event we fail to find a solution to the problems, they will be extended to the Selangor Economic Action Council for consideration and approval,” he said.

Previously on January 15, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced that the state aims to attract RM50 billion in investments this year, surpassing last year’s total of RM45 billion.

He expressed confidence that this can be achieved.

Amirudin said the state also anticipates a healthy gross domestic product growth of between  5 and 6 per cent in 2024.
