Former PBRS president Joseph Kurup dies

KOTA KINABALU, April 17 — Former Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president Tan Sri Datuk Seri Joseph Kurup passed away this evening, aged 79.

The officer to his son Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, the current PBRS president and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, confirmed the matter.

It is understood that Joseph died at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur.

The former Pensiangan MP held several important positions, including as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (National Unity and Integration).

His body is scheduled to be flown back to Sabah tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in a brief statement tonight, Arthur expressed his grief over the loss of his beloved father.

“Thank you, Dad. You are the best. I love you with all my heart,” he said.
