SHAH ALAM, April 9 — The main focus for Pakatan Harapan in the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is to uphold the dedicated work of its former state assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong in the state constituency, said its election director Ng Sze Han.

In a Facebook post yesterday, he said that the list of candidates’ names will be forwarded to the DAP leadership and then to the Harapan central leadership in the near future.

“The primary focus of Pakatan Harapan in Kuala Kubu Baharu is to uphold the ongoing commitment of Lee Kee Hiong, who was dedicated to serving this community for a significant period.

“The role and approach of the deceased have been widely accepted by all segments of society in this area, regardless of background and ideology, aligning with the spirit and principles of the DAP.

“Selangor DAP is committed to continue serving the people of Kuala Kubu Baharu with the full support of the Unity Government in Selangor,” said the Selangor DAP secretary.

Ng also expressed gratitude to the Selangor Pakatan Harapan and DAP leadership for entrusting him with the role of election director for the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu state by-election.

On Thursday, the Election Commission (EC) set polling day for the by-election on May 11, while nominations and early voting day will be on April 27 and May 7, respectively.

The state seat became vacant following Lee’s passing on March 21.

The 58-year-old DAP representative, who had been Kuala Kubu Baharu’s state assemblyman under the Hulu Selangor Parliamentary constituency since 2013, had been battling cancer for several years.
