SHAH ALAM, April 8 — Approximately 19,918 passengers were recorded using the Selangor Mobility demand-responsive transit (DRT) service of in eight zones as of March 31 this year.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said 40 per cent of users chose to travel to and from over 30 train stations like the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) systems.

“This reflects efforts to establish DRT services to encourage the proper use of public transportation.

“It also aligns with the state government’s aspiration to make public transportation the primary mode of transportation under the Selangor Mobility agenda,” he said.

DRT services operate in Puchong, Subang Jaya, Ampang, Petaling Jaya Selatan, Petaling Jaya Utara, Hulu Kelang, Sungai Buloh, and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Serdang since its inception on November 30 last year.

Ng added the state government will continue to expand the DRT system in major public transportation zones, thereby helping to reduce the Klang Valley’s traffic congestion rates.

“Users can register and use the service by visiting the websites of the two appointed operator companies, Mobi and Trek Rides,” he said.

Previously, the councillor said that Phase Two of the DRT would be implemented in June or July this year, focusing on densely populated student areas.
