PM Anwar attends Dewan Rakyat Speaker’s open house

KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail attended the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house of Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul at his official residence today.

Anwar, wearing a yellow baju Melayu complete with sampin, arrived at 12.05pm and was greeted by Johari.

The Prime Minister and his wife spent about 40 minutes at the event to enjoy the meal and mingled with the guests present.

Among the dishes served were steamed tapioca and grated coconut, lemang, rendang, rebus mi, fried mi, various kuih, and cendol.

The ceremony, which ran from 12pm to 4 pm, was also attended by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

Also present were several MPs including the Subang MP cum 15th Parliamentary Special Select Committee (JKPK) chairman on International Relations and International Trade Wong Chen, and Selayang MP cum JKPK for Human Rights, Elections and Institutional Reform chairman William Leong.

The open house was also attended by foreign delegates from Egypt, Turkey, Nepal, Algeria, India, and Romania, as well as corporate and professional figures.
