Selangor Sultan attends Aidilfitri prayers with 5,000 congregants

SHAH ALAM, April 10 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj attended the Hari Raya Aidilfitri congregational prayers at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz today with 5,000 other worshippers to mark the first day of the festive period.

Also in attendance were Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Norashikin and Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah. The royal family arrived as early as 8.15am.

His Royal Highness was accompanied by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, as well as state executive councillors Najwan Halimi, Borhan Aman Shah, Datuk Rizam Ismail, Dr Fahmi Ngah, and Izham Hashim.

Selangor State Secretary Datuk Haris Kasim, Selangor State Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Mohd Kamri Kamaruddin, Selangor Islamic Religious Council chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, Selangor Islamic Religious Department Director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, and Shah Alam police district chief Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim also attended the prayers.

Sultan Sharafuddin joined in the Aidilfitri takbir with the congregation before performing the prayers.

His Royal Highness was later seen interacting with the worshippers at the mosque, many of whom took the opportunity to shake hands with the Ruler.

The Aidilfitri sermon, titled ‘Kemenangan di Pagi Syawal’ was delivered by the Selangor Mufti Datuk Anhar Opir.
