Tengku Zafrul quits as Selangor Umno treasurer

SHAH ALAM, April 1 — Umno Supreme Council member Tengku Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has announced his resignation as Selangor Umno treasurer, effective today.

However, the Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister said he will continue his duties and role as the Kota Raja Umno division chief and member of the Umno Supreme Council.

He said that when he was appointed as an Umno Supreme Council member from Selangor and appointed as Selangor Umno’s treasurer over a year ago, he set the main goal to contribute to the resurgence of Umno in the state.

“My approach and principle are simple: if I cannot contribute to positive change or improvement, then I should not hold a position. It is better for me to vacate the position for someone who can contribute more effectively.

“Therefore, effective today, I am resigning as the treasurer of Selangor Umno,” Tengku Zafrul said in a Facebook post today.

He also expressed his gratitude for the appointment and trust bestowed upon him and prayed that Allah SWT would bless his genuine struggle, and hopefully the party, especially Selangor Umno, will regain ground in the hearts of the people of the state.

“May Umno return to the political arena strongly for the sake of Religion, Race, and Country. Past, Present, and Forever,” Tengku Zafrul said.
