KUALA LUMPUR, NOV 20: The series of continuing arrests against opposition and non-government organisation (NGO) leaders will not weaken the rakyat’s spirit to bring change to the political landscape and the government administration in this country.
KEADILAN Vice President Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the rakyat’s fight will continue for this cause and any effort taken by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s government will face a long and arduous road.
“All actions taken will not dampen our spirits to continue our struggle, instead it will unite us to fight any oppression,” he told the media outside the Jinjang Detention Centre today.
After yesterday’s BERSIH 5 gathering, the police detained Batu Member of Parliament Tian Chua and Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin.
Elaborating further, Selangor Dato’ Menteri Besar said that the police will continue a series of arrests in the following days although Pakatan Harapan and NGO leaders will continue to fight for the release of those detained because there was no crime committed.
He said the rakyat had a right to speak out and gather peacefully like how they did during BERSIH 5 when the public came out in full support.
“We believe in the rakyat’s wisdom and are confident that they are ready for a change in the upcoming general elections.
“We hope to see this change in the form of a new government administration in Putrajaya,” he added.
