Study the best method to handle domestic waste in strata homes

BY NORHAYATI UMOR
SHAH ALAM, JUL 12: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) is studying the best method to tackle the domestic waste problems in strata housing developments.
Its Mayor, Dato’ Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad said, that is because it is difficult to handle waste separation programme from house to house, which was being introduced, for that type of housing.
Nevertheless, he said the programme is well received in non-strata type of residences.
“MBSA is of the view  that early education on hygiene is important, as early as childhood.

“We are studying several methods for this besides having an education centre for this purpose,” he said at the media session after officiating the 2017 Shah Alam Low-Carbon City Townhall Session at the Teater Diraja yesterday.
At the same time, Ahmad Zaharin also informed that MBSA now has 2 organic waste compost machines under the Solid Waste Management, General Cleaning and Landscaping Department.
“MBSA has placed 2 food-waste compost machines at the Seksyen 6 market to produce compost fertiliser.
“For park areas, a machine has been placed at Seksyen 17 for landscape waste including trimmed leaves,” he said.
