BAM! Wan Azizah replaces Rosmah

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today officially replace Rosmah Mansor as the new patron of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).

Making the announcement, BAM president Mohamad Norza Zakaria thanked and welcomed Wan Azizah as the new patron as the governing body head towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“Thank you to Wan Azizah for consenting to become BAM patron. We in BAM are happy with her acceptance.

“We are confident that badminton will shine with her as the new patron as the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan approaches,” he said after a BAM council meeting in Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM), Bukit Kiara.

Norza believes that Wan Azizah is a leader who is up to date when it comes to the latest development of badminton in the country.

He hoped the presence of Malaysia’s first woman Deputy Prime Minister would inspire national badminton players, coaches as well as BAM officers.

He also thanked Rosmah for her efforts and sacrifices as the previous BAM patron.
