PORT KLANG – Seven firefighters who were injured when putting out fire in three factories, including a weed mill in Pulau Indah, have recently received the attention of the state government.
EXCO of Empowerment and Socio-Economic Development and Government Concerns, Ganabatirau said he is pleased to offer cash-based contributions to members who are struggling to eradicate fires and injuries.
“These are just a few contributions, the most important thing is that the community needs to know the task and the role of the firemen are increasingly challenging today,” he said.
“The government should care about this. Firefighters have a big role, so their welfare needs to be noted,” he added.
He said this when met after handing over the donation at the Port Klang Fire Station on 11 July.
Also present were, Port Klang State Assemblyman (ADN), Azmizam Zaman Huri and ADN Pendamaran, Tony Leong Tuck Chee.
Port Klang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Mohd Naim Mohd Nasir was also present.
Meanwhile, Mohd Naim expressed his gratitude to the state government and the ADN who are concerned with the role and fate of firefighters who are willing to save lives.
“Thank you to the state government, EXCO and ADN for the concern on our welfare. What is important is that the community needs to be aware and understand more about the role of firefighters,” he said.
Recently, during the incident, there was a blast and a minor collapse which resulted in rock fragments hitting a fireman, while another four complained that the blast had affected their ears.
Another member had fell down and was injured when transferring a hose.
Members of the Sungai Pinang Fire and Rescue Center (BBP) Mohd Faizzuan Ayob suffered injuries on his foot while Port Klang BBP members, Muhammad Ridzuan Kamaruzaman suffered burns in the ears and vomited after being diagnosed with poison gas and was suffering from dizziness.
