Influenza A: 387 cases recorded, no schools closed in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Jan 15 — The Selangor Education Department recorded 387 influenza A cases in 10 districts involving 149 schools in the state.

The state education department in a statement said that the number of cases was obtained as of 9am today and that no schools have been closed to date.

“The highest number of cases were recorded in Klang with 127 cases from 42 schools, followed by Petaling Perdana (97 cases) from 38 schools, Sepang (53 cases) from 12 schools, and Petaling Utama (23 cases) from 10 schools.

“Kuala Langat (17 cases) from eight schools, Gombak (28 cases) from 16 schools, Hulu Selangor (16 cases) from five schools, Hulu Langat (10 cases) from eight schools, Kuala Selangor (8 cases) from six schools, and Sabak Bernam (7 cases) from three schools, ” the statement read.

It added that those infected with influenza A have received treatment and were reportedly in stable condition.

“Medical leaves were issued to those affected and they were advised to be quarantined at home for three to seven days after being discharged from the hospital.

“Some of the patients who were warded have also been discharged,” the statement read.
