SHAH ALAM, Feb 6 — Beginning March, Selangor offers a RM800 incentive for patients diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB) and undergoing treatment, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said this would ease the burden of the medical cost and ensure that the patients will complete their treatment sessions.

“The state government has allocated RM2 million to curb the spread of the disease. A total of 5,303 cases were recorded in Selangor, of which 533 patients did not complete their treatment session.

“Patients can get the application forms for the incentive from government hospitals and clinics or community service centres in their respective districts,” he said at a press conference after chairing the Selangor Economic Action Council meeting at his office here today.

Amirudin said the payments would be disbursed through three separation transactions — RM200 for the first two months, RM200 the following two months, and RM400 until completion of treatment.

In the state Budget 2020, RM2 million was allocated for the treatment of 3,750 patients with a household income of RM1,000 and below.
