HULU SELANGOR, Feb 11 — The Selangor government has submitted a request to the Economic Affairs Ministry for a special allocation to restore the Shah Alam Stadium.
State Youth Generation, Sports and Human Capital Development Committee chairman Mohd Khairuddin Othman said repair works need to be done on the infrastructure to ensure it is safe and comfortable for its users.
He said this would also be part of the state government’s efforts in preparing to host for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2022.
“We already have a RM20 million allocation to fix the damage to the roof.
“We understand the concerns raised on the issue and we are doing our best to resolve the matter,” said Mohd Khairuddin after the flag-off event of the fifth-stage of the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2020 in Kuala Kubu Bharu here today.
Mohd Khairuddin added that the Shah Alam Stadium is safe to be used by the Red Giants team ahead of the Malaysian League on February 28.
Yesterday, Darul Ehsan Facilities Management (DEFM) said it would inspect the stadium again this week, focusing on the roof damage.
It said that the initial inspection conducted by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) did not touch on the damage to the roof, and focussed more on the improvement of the field’s surface and the condition of the dressing room.
