Sultan of Selangor grants audience to FAM president

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, today granted an audience to Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin at Istana Bukit Kayangan, Shah Alam, in Selangor.

Hamidin took the opportunity to discuss current football issues, including the privatisation process of turning FAs (football associations) into FCs (football clubs), according to a statement issued by FAM.

“Other topics discussed included the progress of the F:30 Roadmap as well as the plan to build a new FAM headquarters and a modern state-of-the-art national training centre in Putrajaya,” the statement added.

Hamidin also touched on the impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on the industry as well as the national squad’s preparations ahead of the 2022 World Cup/2023 Asian Cup qualifiers and the grassroots development programmes in Selangor, which are in line with the FAM SupaRimau Charter.

Also present were Malaysian Football League (MFL) chief executive officer Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan and FAM secretary-general Stuart Ramalingam.
