Selangor water supply restoration efforts at 65 pct

SHAH ALAM, Oct 20 — Efforts to restore water supply to more than 1.2 million account users in 1,292 areas hit by the water cuts currently stands at 65 per cent, or 841 areas.

As of 6pm today, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) on a Facebook post said the restoration process of water supply at affected areas saw Kuala Selangor at 98 per cent, Hulu Selangor (88 per cent), Petaling (78 per cent), Kuala Lumpur (57 per cent), Gombak (55 per cent) and Klang (21 per cent), while Kuala Langat is still at zero per cent.

On Monday, the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2, 3 and Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plants were forced to suspend operations following a river pollution incident detected at 2am.

A total of 1,196,457 users in 1,292 areas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur were unexpectedly hit by the unscheduled water supply disruption.
