Covid-19: SMK Jati in Ipoh ordered to close

IPOH, Nov 5 — Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Jati here, has been ordered to close for seven days from today until November 11, following detection of a Covid-19 case.

State Education director Dr Mohd Suhaimi Mohamed Ali said the school would reopen on November 12

He said the closure was to allow cleaning and disinfection work to be carried out by the Ministry of Health and the Perak Fire and Rescue Department.

“During this period our school administrators are instructed to ensure that teachers and students continue their teaching and learning session from home and the manuals can be downloaded via the ministry’s portal at www.moe.gov.my,” he said in a statement here today.

With this latest directive, this is the second school in Perak to have Covid-19 cases detected among students and staff, after Maahad Al Yahyawiah (SABK) in Padang Rengas, situated some 40 kilometres from here, was closed for the same period.
