Selangor tourist spots attract international filmmakers

SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 —  Various tourist spots in Selangor were often chosen as filming locations by international documentary filmmakers before the country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

State executive councillor for tourism Hee Loy Sian said the variety of unique areas in the state attracted filmmakers from Taiwan, Japan, Korea, India, the United States and Hong Kong.

“Many of these private filming companies produce shows about the ecotourism products found in Selangor, especially in Sekinchan.

“This is a good sign because they indirectly help to promote the tourist destination to outsiders,” Hee said during the Media Selangor’s Bual Bicara talk show last night.

At the same time, he also hoped that the creative tourism industry would continue to be the catalyst for the state’s economic growth when the national border reopens and that the Covid-19 pandemic ends soon.

Prior to this, the Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state tourism industry could be enlivened by identifying locations that promise international filming opportunities for creative industry players.

Tourism Selangor also announced places often used as filming locations which include Batu Caves, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Sekinchan, Sepang International Circuit and the Shah Alam Blue Mosque (Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah).
