Ramadan bazaars: Local authorities to monitor SOP compliance, avoid new clusters

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, April 2 — Local councils in the state are instructed to monitor the standard operating procedures (SOPs) compliance in Ramadan bazaars to prevent the creation of ‘bazaar clusters’.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the councils’ staff must ensure that all visitors and traders follow the rules and there are no violations.

“The decision was made in the State Security Council meeting yesterday. I have instructed the district officer to mobilise the local councils to check the public’s compliance.

“We do not want clusters to emerge that may cause a spread or new wave. Currently, the third-wave cases are decreasing,” he said after launching the BazaarLokal.com and Selangor Ramadan Festival at SACC Mall today.

Last March, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the permission to operate Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars nationwide this year.

According to him, the decision was made after holding discussions and obtaining the views of the Health Ministry.
