SHAH ALAM, June 10 — The Selangor government has outlined 14 initiatives under the first strategy of the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 to safeguard the welfare of the people and their survival in facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
The initiatives, as announced by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari yesterday, are as follows:
1. Food basket programme
- to benefit the B40 group, school bus and van drivers, taxi and tour bus drivers, single mothers, unemployed individuals, those who have reduced income, the disabled group, and Covid-19 patients
- community service allocation for Selangor state assemblymen increased to RM100,000 for the state representatives to use for community-related programmes
- Pakatan Harapan MPs to receive RM30,000 funds each to carry out community programmes
2. Financial aid for the next of kin of Covid-19 patients who succumbed to the infection
- A RM1,000 death benefit aid for those who passed away due to Covid-19
- Total allocation of RM1.5 million
3. Special RM500 aid for the disabled group
- A one-off financial assistance involving a total of RM600,000 allocation
4. Moratorium for Hijrah Selangor entreprenuers
- Loan repayment deferment for one month-and-a-half to some 40,000 entrepreneurs under Hijrah Selangor with a total financial implication of RM11.35 million
5. Special hotline for domestic violence victims
- RM100,000 allocated to set up an emergency hotline by Wanita Berdaya Selangor and other agencies and non-governmental organisations
6. Loan repayment deferment for students graduating in 2021
- A total of 1,300 students to benefit from the initiative with a financial impact of RM1.3 million
- The loan repayment deferment period is extended from six months to 12 months after the student completes their studies this year
7. People’s Tuition Programme
- Study module will be published and distributed to 50,000 students that will be sitting for examination this year, with a total allocation of RM2.1 million
8. ePTRS.my portal
- RM500,000 allocated for the digitalised version of the People’s Tuition Programme
- To benefit 20,000 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia candidates
9. Defer loan repayment for tenants of the People’s Housing Project (PPR) and Smart Rental Scheme
- Loan deferment repayments for the month of July to benefit 2,632 tenants of the PPR and 477 others under the Smart Rental Scheme
10. Special assistance for kindergarten operators and teachers
- A total of 1,018 kindergarten operators to receive a one-off payment of RM450 while 10,197 teachers will receive RM150
- A total of RM1.99 million is allocated
11. Loan repayment deferment for Yayasan Selangor scholarship holders
- To benefit 286 students under the scholarship and to complete their students by end of the year up to January 2022
- Former scholarship holders are urged to contact the agency for restructuring of repayment
12. Assistance for Selangor graduates
- RM1.5 million allocated to provide food items and basic necessities for 7,500 varsity students
13. Selangor Internet Data
- 70,000 sim cards offered to targeted groups for unlimited data usage at RM35 per month. Users would only be required to pay RM15 monthly for 12 months as the remaining RM20 per month is subsidised by the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated).
14. Selangor internet scheme for M40 group
- Each middle-income household in Selangor will be offered a subsidy of between RM10 and RM30 a month for one year beginning July 1. The initiative in collaboration with Telekom Malaysia offers eight different packages
