MB uses comprehensive approach in tackling Covid-19

SHAH ALAM, June 24 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari uses a comprehensive approach in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic in the state.

From organising mass screenings, finding ways to curb the virus spread in industrial sectors, providing various assistance programmes, to vaccine procurements, his efforts have made Selangor an exemplary state.

Sungai Templer state assemblyman Mohd Sany Hamzan explained that the community screening programme which was held since March last year has helped a lot in tracking those who are infected yet asymptomatic.

Apart from that, he said, volunteers were also sent to help Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) so that its operation ran smoothly and a call centre was established to assess patients at home to avoid congestion at CAC.

Although Selangor daily cases are high due to its high-density population, he said the state government is still capable of handling the situation, and in fact, continue assisting groups affected by the pandemic.

“Amirudin truly understands what the people need. The state government has donated food baskets, conducted screenings, provided Covid-19 home assessment kits and next are the vaccines.

“Aside from this, various assistance packages were given to small traders, students and even taxi drivers, all done for the welfare of the people and at the same time to curb the spread of Covid-19,” he said.

Mohd Sany was commenting on Amirudin’s achievement in his third year as Selangor Menteri Besar on June 19.

Meanwhile, Bandar Utama state assemblywoman, Jamaliah Jamaluddin praised the Preventing and Detecting Outbreaks at Ignition Sites (POIS) initiative which helped to control infections at factories.

She further explained that as the biggest contributor to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), the state relies heavily on industrial sectors, but also needs to safeguard the safety and health of its people too.

“Hence, the state government and Menteri Besar swiftly collaborated with industrial sectors by implementing POIS, even though the authority to monitor factory operations falls under the Federal government jurisdiction.

“This immediate action managed to curb massive outbreaks often linked to the factory clusters,” she said.
