SHAH ALAM, July 9 — A total of 7,000 pulse oximeter units, used to determine blood oxygen levels, will be distributed to Covid-19 Assessment Centres (CAC) in Selangor to help manage Covid-19 patients undergoing quarantine at home.
Selangor Public Health, Unity, Women and Family Development committee chairman Dr Mariah Mahmud said the donation of the pulse oximeters were in line with the RM1.25 million allocation for Home Assessment Tool (HAT) preparation under the Kita Selangor 2.0 package announced on June 9.
Till now, Dr Mariah said they have handed 1,000 unit pulse oximeters to Petaling district CAC that will begin to distribute them to category one and two patients undergoing quarantine at home.
She said to ensure the kit management and monitoring methods could be coordinated efficiently, Covid-19 patients who received the HAT unit at centres in Petaling, Hulu Langat and Gombak districts would use the SELangkah app.
“Health workers at the centres will evaluate and determine which patients would receive the HAT unit based on their health levels.
“Besides benefiting the patient, it aims to reduce the burden and crowding at CACs and district health offices,” she said at a media conference after the handover of the units at the Petaling district CAC here yesterday.
In other developments, Dr Mariah said the state required more vaccinators to speed up the vaccination process as Selangor would be receiving over four million doses this month.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shaari meanwhile tweeted that the rise in daily positive cases in Selangor was due to comprehensive screenings in enhanced movement control order (EMCO) areas in the state.
“The high number of cases in Selangor is mostly due to comprehensive screenings in EMCO areas that contributed 1,346 cases as well as close contact screening from positive cases in EMCO areas,” he said.
A total of 8,868 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported today, with 4,152 cases in Selangor.
