17,000 Selangor entrepreneurs to receive free internet data from October

By Zareef Muzammil

AMPANG, Aug 15 — A total of 17,000 entrepreneurs in Selangor will get to enjoy free internet data for one year under the Selangor Internet Data Programme starting October.

State executive councillor for entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail said the initiative will help the targeted groups to operate their business online and boost their sales.

“The application is still open and it will be closed on September 15. Therefore, the entrepreneurs are encouraged to grab the chance by applying via the Platform Selangor website or through my office.

“This would allow the entrepreneurs to have their own internet data and no longer need to share it with their families or face other difficulties such as running out of data while operating their businesses,” she said after handing over the equipment grants under the Selangor’s Indian Entrepreneur Development (Sitham) programme, here yesterday.

On August 4, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that 70,000 people in Selangor will receive free SIM cards with free internet data for a period of 12 months.

He said the initiative would benefit students from Selangor People’s Tutoring Programme (PTRS), Kolej Universiti Islam Selangor and Universiti Selangor as well as Yayasan Selangor borrowers.

Students of the Selangor Technical Development Centre, e-bazaar traders, farmers and single mothers in the state would also be able to enjoy the incentive offered.
