PKNS Real Estate assisted over 500 traders, tenants hit by Covid-19

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 — A total of 537 traders and tenants of PKNS Real Estate Sdn Bhd (PREC) premises whose income was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic have been assisted since last year.

The assistance from PREC includes rental rebates, Ramadan and monthly promotional rental discounts as well as maintaining the rental renewal rates, involving a total value of RM8.2 million.

Its Corporate Relations Division in a statement said the moratorium assistance of 50 per cent was also given from June to September.

“However, PREC hopes that tenants will prioritise resolving arrears before May 31. We want to assure them the recovery of the business ecosystem in the PREC business complex (premises) is successful,” said the statement.

Meanwhile, PREC acting centre manager Syahril Mohd Rashid said the Bazaar Lokal e-commerce platform has been set up to encourage more merchants to switch toward digitalisation in line with the retail market shift.

He explained they will always work with individuals or associations to find interesting ideas to ensure that tenants stay with PREC.

“We need the tenants and vice versa. That is why we are ready to help them if they want to change their strategy or improve their business so that they can rise again,” he said.
