SHAH ALAM, Nov 13 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has spent RM20,000 thus far to aid veteran artistes or former sportspersons, who are facing problems including health-related ones.

Its corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said MBI has managed to contact them through certain agencies, including Lembaga Zakat Selangor and the Selangor Islamic Religious Council, for further action.

“Now we have received word on the singer Shima. We will obtain further information to render the needed aid,” he told SelangorKini.

The songstress, best known for her hits ‘Teringin’ and ‘Setelah Aku Kau Miliki’, was categorised as being eligible for the Islamic tithe (asnaf) by Lembaga Zakat Selangor in 2019.

Subsequently the 52-year old Shima, whose birth name is Ku Nazhatul Shima Ku Kamaruzzaman, was offered a home in the Lembah Subang 2 People’s Housing Project, via the Seni Harapan Community Housing Initiative.

MBI has also provided aid to others including Ali XPDC, Gmie Screen, Selangor football player Azhar Sharif, group guitarist Search Kid, and comedian Hamid Gurkha.
