KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 — Johor has recorded the third-highest number of SELangkah (Step In, Safely) mobile application users after Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, as many of those utilising the app are those residing outside Klang Valley.

Developed by Selangkah Ventures Sdn Bhd, the app has registered a cumulative figure of 6.7 million users since its launch on May 4 last year.

Its chief information officer Dr Helmi Zakariah said that 44 per cent of the SELangkah users are from Klang Valley while the remaining are from other states, including Johor and Penang.

“Based on our findings, most of the users from other states use the apps for other various functions that are not restricted within Selangor.

“This includes the Mental Sehat feature on SELangkah, which was launched on September 11. Mental Sehat is a teleconsultation platform for mental health issues, and it is open to everyone, not only in Selangor,” he said when met after delivering a talk titled Lesson Learned on Leveraging Health Information and Technology to Address Future Pandemic at the Selangor Health Conference 2021, here today.

Dr Helmi said many users outside the state have engaged through the Mental Sehat, with a total of 2,700 users recorded using the features within the last week.

“These users have reached out to us for psychosocial support and were assisted accordingly.

“Before further consultations with the medical practitioners are scheduled, the users must go through an interview and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Their performance will be reassessed after therapy.

“Most of the time, the process takes place without human intervention, but if there are urgent cases, we will immediately alert our partner WhatsDoc portal,” he said.

The conference is in conjunction with the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2021 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, which began on November 18 and ends today.
