Electric car users in Selangor to get more perks, charging stations

By Nasuha Badrul Huzaini

SHAH ALAM, Nov 26 — A total of 10,000 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations will be installed throughout Selangor by 2025, with the first 1,000 stations expected to be ready in 2022.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the collaboration between the Selangor government and private parties will involve an investment value of RM10 million.

He said Selangor aims to be the pioneer in EV usage as all types of vehicles including buses, lorries, delivery vans and garbage trucks now embrace the technology.

“To further promote the use of EV, the state government plans to provide some incentives to the businesses and industries that have invested in EV infrastructure projects.

“The incentives include a reduction of business fees and assessment tax. Apart from that, parking fees which come under the jurisdiction of the local authorities will also be waived for EV users in 2022,” he said during the tabling of the 2022 Selangor Budget (#Selangor2022) at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here, today.

Amirudin added that the state government also welcomes any collaboration and partnership proposal from the private sector, especially local companies that are currently operating in the green technology sector.

The Selangor government has allocated a total of RM2.343 billion for the 2022 Selangor Budget (#Selangor2022), to be dispersed to the people through five core strategies.

The strategies are to spur a high-impact economy and build a better delivery system; to grow a caring society and ensure the people’s wellbeing; to strengthen Selangor’s public healthcare system; to create a green environment and practise sustainable development; and to optimise smart technology and digitalisation.
