MBI: Several thousand Covid-19 test kits distributed to relief centres

SHAH ALAM, Dec 21 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has prepared 5,000 Covid-19 saliva test kits, which will be distributed to temporary relief centres (PPS) throughout the state.

Its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the kits are necessary to ensure that Covid-19 cases in PPS can be detected early.

“Realising this, MBI Selangor’s CSR took the initiative to provide 5,000 kits to be distributed to each PPS,” he wrote on Instagram.

On Saturday, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari instructed all relevant agencies to help those affected by the floods, including evacuating them to PPS.

Apart from providing basic necessities including clothes, food, and small rooms at PPS, he said the state government will provide free Covid-19 screening to ensure the safety of flood victims.

As of 8am this morning, a total of 203 PPS have been opened in nine districts throughout Selangor, to accommodate approximately 30,632 victims who are still affected.

Unusual heavy rains since Saturday saw more than double the rainfall levels from the previous high of 180mm, which resulted in the inundation of many areas in the state.
