Thunderstorms, heavy rains expected in eight Selangor districts

SHAH ALAM, Feb 2 — Strong winds, heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to occur in eight districts in Selangor until 7pm today.

The weather forecast issued includes areas in Sabak Bernam,Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the similar weather condition is also forecasted in several locations in Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Johor.

Similar weather condition is also forecasted to occur in several locations in Sarawak and Sabah until 6pm today.

MetMalaysia issues the warning if signs indicate that thunderstorms with a rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are expected to occur over a one-hour duration.

The thunderstorm warnings are short-term, with each warning valid within six hours after being issued.
