SHAH ALAM, Feb 19 — The state government is in talks with the relevant party to sort out the electricity and water supply issue at Kampung Melayu Bukit Tarek in Hulu Selangor, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said several discussions with the Hulu Selangor Land and District Office were held to help resolve the problem faced by the residents in the area.
“We will help the residents to get electricity and water supply as soon as possible. This is a priority because it is crucial for the residents’ daily use,” he said at a press conference after attending the closing ceremony of Ayuh Selangor 1.0 Virtual Run Programme at the Selangor State Secretariat Building here, yesterday.
On October 27 last year, Amirudin had promised to resolve the land ownership issue at Kampung Melayu Bukit Tarek after a group of residents in the area claimed they do not have access to basic facilities.
It was previously reported that nearly 300 residents in the village do not have access to basic facilities including road access despite living in the area for the past 30 years.
Even though the settlement is located not far from the North-South Expressway (PLUS), the residents had to resort to using generators, car batteries and solar panels for power supply and reliance on rainwater for daily water usage.
