HULU SELANGOR, March 12 — The state government will speed up the payment of RM10,000 aid to the next-of-kin of victims who died during the landslide incident at Taman Bukit Permai 2, Ampang.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the payment would be made to the victims’ families within a week at the latest.

“Our primary focus is to ensure the incident area is safe and followed by assistance. During a disaster, the first step is to save lives and then donations and support to the families and next-of-kin of the affected victims.

“The total amount of assistance has yet to be finalised, but the next-of-kin of victims who died will receive RM10,000, and it will be handed over within a week,” he said at the launching of Ion Belian Garden housing project here today.

Yesterday, after a visit to the landslide site, Amirudin said each family of the deceased would receive cash of RM10,000 from the state government. In contrast, assistance for other affected families is under consideration.

The landslide which occurred yesterday evening claimed four lives and caused injuries to another victim while affecting 15 houses and ten vehicles.
