Selangor Raja Muda confers degrees on 1,024 UPM graduates

SERDANG, March 21 — The Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today conferred degrees on 1,024 graduates at the 45th Convocation of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) here.

The UPM pro-chancellor handed over the degrees to graduates of the Science Faculty, the Engineering Faculty, the Educational Studies Faculty, the Computer Science Faculty, and the Design and Architecture Faculty apart from conferring diplomas to graduates of Agriculture and Forestry as well as the Humanities, Management and Science Faculty.

The convocation ceremony which began on Saturday to March 24 involved 6,142 graduates including 484 Doctors of Philosophy (PhD), Masters (1,611), Bachelor (3,564) and Diploma (483).

UPM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Roslan Sulaiman when speaking at the ceremony held at UPM’s Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Hall, wanted all members of the UPM community to maintain its solidarity towards achieving the mission and objectives of the university.

“All aspirations need sustainable teamwork and determination between lecturers, administrators, and students. With this spirit we could realise UPM as a respected tower of knowledge,” he said.

In sharing the latest achievements of UPM, Mohd Roslan said the university is now placed 143rd university in Asia under the QS Asia University Rankings 2022.

He said the quality graduates of the university who have been accepted by employers locally and abroad is a testimony of the university’s success.

“The marketability of UPM graduates attained an impressive 95.4 per cent last year,” he said.
