Covid-19: 99.27 pct of cases in categories one to two yesterday

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 — A total of 22,326 cases or 99.27 per cent of the 22,491 new Covid-19 cases reported yesterday involved categories one and two, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said less than one per cent or 0.73 per cent or 165 cases reported yesterday were in categories three, four and five.

“Category one comprised 10,601 cases while category two totalled 11,725 ​​cases.

“A total of 71 cases or 0.31 per cent were in category three, 44 cases (0.20 per cent) in category four and 50 cases (0.22 per cent) in category five,” he said in a statement today.

According to Dr Noor Hisham, no new Covid-19 clusters were reported yesterday while 273 clusters were still active to date.

He said the infectivity rate (Rt) in the country recorded yesterday was at 0.90, with Selangor recording the highest value at 1.03 while the lowest value was recorded in Sabah at 0.64.

He said five states showed more than 50 per cent usage of Intensive Care Units (ICU) beds with the highest being Putrajaya at 100 per cent, followed by Kuala Lumpur (67 per cent), Johor (59 per cent), Selangor (57 per cent) and Kelantan (52 per cent).
