SHAH ALAM, April 1 —The second phase of the post-flood clean-up operation by KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) in the areas under eight local councils within Selangor has been fully completed.
Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the areas involved are Subang Jaya, Puchong, Kampung Sri Aman, Kampung Tengah and Kampung Sungai Baru.
He said it also includes Kampung Kenangan, Sri Langkas, Taman Sri Muda, Taman Kinrara, Hulu Langat and Klang.
“With the completion of the second phase of the clean-up process, which involved clearing drains, the solid waste collection (in the affected areas) will now be operating as per schedule,” he said in a statement yesterday.
The second phase of the post-flood clean-up operation in areas hit by the major flooding in December last year had completed ahead of schedule, which was targeted to conclude by May.
Ramli said KDEBWM would continue to give its commitment to facing any possible incidents that would occur in the state.
KDEBWM, a subsidiary company of the state government that fully-manages domestic waste collection, has been endeavouring to clear flood-affected areas in stages since December 20 last year.
Approximately 78,000 metric tonnes of bulk waste have been cleared, with cooperation from the local authorities and other agencies, which concluded on January 7.
Starting on January 8, the company has been carrying out the second phase of the clean-up operations, focusing on decontamination and clearing out clogged drains and ditches, using effective microbiology technology.
