Dusun Tua constituency sees 200 Selangor Saring participants within an hour

HULU LANGAT, June 26 — Public awareness of health screening in the Dusun Tua state constituency increased when members of the public of all ages attended the Selangor Saring programme today.

Its state assemblyman Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof said he was taken aback by the number of attendees, which he said was unexpected as residents have previously been afraid to do the screening.

“Within an hour of the programme, we received almost 200 people. Beforehand when we invited the public many avoided coming but today it is the other way around.

“Even more surprising is that I thought there would be mainly elderly attendees, but there were also many youths in the crowd as well as other various ages. This is gratifying as there is no age limit to know one’s health status,” he said.

Edry Faizal was speaking at the Selangor Saring programme at Dewan Komuniti Kampung Batu 9 earlier today.

He said that based on today’s response, he hoped the programme can be held again in the state constituency.

“If 200 people can be achieved within an hour, then 600 people today is also possible. Maybe there are those who do not have the opportunity or are unsure, and I think it would be good if it is held again, in addition to helping the less fortunate,” Edry Faizal said.

The state government has allocated RM3.4 million to ensure the success of Selangor Saring, which would benefit 39,000 people, particularly those with a family medical history, obesity, or an unhealthy lifestyle.

Physical screening, blood and urine tests, eye, cervical and breast cancer, occult or colorectal faecal blood testing, and prostate tests are all available during the programme until September 4.
