SELAYANG, July 2 — The Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has spent RM36,800 to install two solar-powered lights at Pangsapuri Bidara here.
Its Corporate Social Responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said this was the first such project by MBI in providing solar-powered lighting systems for residential areas.
“This is our (MBI) first project that involved a solar-powered lighting system, which we installed to ensure the safety of the residents and to prevent other social problems.
“With this facility, these problems could be resolved. Even though the contribution may seem small, its impact is big,” he said when met at the handover of the solar-powered lighting system aid here today.
Also present during the event was Bukit Lanjan state assemblyman Elizabeth Wong.
Meanwhile, Wong thanked MBI for approving their application for the installation of solar-powered lights at the two blocks of the apartment.
“This project is very meaningful to the residents as the area was unlighted for quite a long time. That is why I applied for funding from MBI and they approved it.
“Also such a facility helps to reduce the electricity bills for lighting at the apartment,” she said, adding that installation of the solar-powered lighting system was completed in May.
