Bank Negara’s international reserve at US$109 bln as at June 30

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) international reserves amounted to US$109 billion as of June 30, 2022.

In a statement today, the central bank said the reserves position is sufficient to finance 5.8 months of imports of goods and services and is 1.1 times total short-term external debt.

The main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves, which stood at US$97 billion as of June 30 as well as the International Monetary Fund reserve position (US$1.3 billion), special drawing rights (US$5.7 billion), gold (US$2.3 billion) and other reserve assets (US$2.7 billion).
