Plats’ digital training offers various benefits to small traders, hawkers

SHAH ALAM, July 13 — The Selangor Platform (Plats) digital development training that will commence in the third quarter of 2022, offers various benefits to small traders and hawkers throughout the state.

According to Plats coordinator Azizul Hussin Zainal Abidin, the programme with cooperation from 12 local authorities teaches the basics of business digitisation for free.

“They will also receive guidance on applying for business permits from the local authority as well as on how to do cashless payment transactions and manage online orders.

“Besides that, we will provide guidance on using social media for their business,” he said when contacted.

He said as of the end of June, 12,234 small traders and hawkers had participated in the digital platform to expand their businesses.

According to him, the participation rate has been very encouraging as no fees were charged to traders who wanted to go for digitalisation.

“Currently, all Plats traders are involved in the food and beverage (F&B) sector. We are targeting to register 20,000 small traders and hawkers on this platform by the end of this year,” he said.

Plats was introduced during the Ramadan period two years ago, to complete the Selangor Digitalisation Agenda ecosystem with a digital platform, following the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic.

On April 11 last year, Plats 2.0 was launched to help traders generate continuous income, instead of being limited to the fasting month only.

The third iteration of the virtual platform was continued this year in April, which also involved collaboration with Selangor Digital Partner Ambassadors (RDS).
