PETALING JAYA, Oct 18 — Family businesses play an important role in contributing to Selangor’s economy while not neglecting efforts in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the success of any family business can provide balance and convenience to the community.

“The state government always supports participation from the private sector which assists family businesses in Malaysia, especially those in Selangor.

“Economic achievements should be well-balanced for both the people and the community. Hence, the state government via Yayasan Selangor constantly supports sustainable development efforts.

“Business life that begins with family can understand these aspects well, which determines current and future successes,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the officiation of the opening ceremony for the second Asia-Pacific Family Business Summit 2022, earlier today.

The first summit was held online in August last year, with approximately 200 participants.

This year’s summit is themed ‘Sustainability: The Heart and Bedrock of Family Business Continuity in the Turbulent Global Environment’.
