Five men arrested over luxury car theft

JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 22 — Police have arrested five men involved over the theft of a luxury car at Jalan Indah 15/3, Taman Bukit Indah, on November 16.

Iskandar Puteri district police chief ACP Rahmat Ariffin said the suspects, aged 21 to 56, were detained at 6.50pm around Taman Setia Indah here.

He said the arrests were made following a police report lodged by the 33-year-old car owner over the incident on Wednesday (November 16) at 1.20am.

“The cause of the incident is said to be about one of the arrested men who was dissatisfied with the deal for the sale and purchase of a Mercedes Benz and an argument ensued during the discussion

“All of them were arrested along with the case item, a Mercedes Benz, and they admitted to be involved in the incident,” he said in a statement today.

According to Rahmat, the owner of the vehicle suffered head injuries and was treated at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital.

He added that one of the suspects is also being investigated under the Societies Act for having a tattoo of a phoenix on his right arm.

All of the suspects were remanded from today until November 27. The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code and Section 43 of the Societies Act 1966.
