SHAH ALAM, Nov 23 — An estimated 10,000 people attended the Selangor International Travel Photography Festival in Petaling Jaya, which was held on November 12 and 13.
The festival, organised by Tourism Selangor, features photography contests and exhibitions, talks and presentations about photography, cultural performances, and a colouring activity for kids.
The event saw the participation of fifty photographers from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and the United States in the photography competition themed “Selangor, My Dream Destination”, with about 200 photos from the competition displayed.
State executive councillor for tourism Hee Loy Sian said that the festival aimed to introduce and further enhance the state’s tourism industry.
“Selangor has the potential to become a focus area for photographers and creative content creators, in addition to improving some iconic tourist hotspots in the state,” he said in a statement
Tourism Selangor stated that in 2021, the state has attracted over 10.2 million domestic tourists, making it the most visited state in Malaysia.
The state agency stated that through the various collaborations with key industry players this year, such as Jumpstreet Asia, Selangor Fruit Valley, Eastin Hotel, Chocolate Museum, Jungle School Gombak, and Gamuda Land, the festival had been able to promote domestic tourism better.
